Apple Pickin’
As I sit by my open door enjoying a breezy, fall day, I am inspired to share with you our apple picking trip from this past weekend. Our friends Andrew and Julia rallied the troops and led us on a fun expedition into the New York countryside.
Our other lovely friends and neighbors, Meredith and Charlie, decided to join us making for a fun trip!
We started our journey by driving over the Brooklyn Bridge. It really was a beautiful site. We then slowly crept through the city and finally found ourselves in the very beautiful New York/New Jersey countryside. It was crazy to go from jam-packed urban NYC and then suddenly – trees and old white houses with picket fences! Andrew planned our first stop at the Rockland Bakery. It was to die for! Fresh bread, bagels, rolls, donuts – the smell was heavenly. The kids were as impressed as I was. Piping hot bagels were rolling down a conveyer belt (for us Southerners picture Krispy Kreme)!
We then moved on to the Orchards of Concklin County. A tiny rolling road meandered through the orchards.
The weather was perfect. Just enough of a nip in the air to require long sleeves. It was truly serene. And J.T. and Charlie left many little teeth marks in apples to attest to the good time that was had by all!
Until next time….enjoy this beautiful time of year!
“Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth
seeking the successive autumns.”
- George Eliot
